Mr. Canuto Ciocon
Chairman, Scholarship Committee
University of Santo Tomas Engineering Alumni Association (USTEAA)
New Jersey, USA
A warm Thomasian greeting!
I am Mary Grace Lim Casuncad, a freshman enrolled at the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Engineering, an individual who’s life is about to change because of a miracle that God has bestowed upon me on the day that you and the entire USTEAA granted me the privilege and honor of being the USTEAA scholarship grantee for five years. This blessing will lead me to a future beyond my wishes and to the fulfilment of my grandest desires. I would like to thank all of you personally for this benevolent gesture which you have accorded me. But since I cannot do so, I am composing this letter.
When Engr. Evangeline Deleña broke the news to my mom last Thursday, February 26, 2009, my mom broke into tears and she smiled for the very first time after what seemed like a long period of difficulties and challenges. I do not know how to express myself properly now for my heart is filled with the overflowing joy with what is happening in my life. I believe that God used your kind office as an instrument in honing His perfect plan for my life that is still too vague for me to understand. This incident has marked a point in my life where I should learn to turn away from my own thoughts and ideals and instead learn to understand that God had already planned ahead for me. His Plan, no matter how multifaceted, will always be perfect. He will always bring out the best in all of us. Since His Ways are too complex for us to understand, we can do nothing but wait faithfully and patiently for a revelation that is sure to come.
With all of these said, I, with the best of my potentials and with the guidance of the Almighty , will do my best in order for me to keep the scholarship grant and exploit the opportunity that your gracious office has given me. You can rest assured that I have read and understood the Memorandum of Agreement covering the scholarship grant requirements. The USTEAA has given me an opportunity to prove myself, to be somebody and to make a difference; I would not let you down. I will forever be grateful for the generosity that you have showered upon me and I wish nothing but the best for the UST Engineering Alumni Association.
I hereby declare that I am not a recipient of any other scholarship.
Godspeed and may God bless you and the USTEAA (USA) always.
Respectfully yours,
Mary Grace Lim Casuncad
Freshman, BS Civil Engineering
